Biography

Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) was an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California in 1967. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, CCR's musical style incorporated Southern rock, swamp rock, and roots rock elements, with lyrics often addressing political and socioeconomic issues, as well as Southern imagery. At their peak from 1969 to 1971, the band released an astonishing string of hit singles and classic albums, establishing themselves as one of the most commercially successful and artistically influential American bands of their era.
