Butthole Surfers are an American rock band formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1981 by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary. Known for their chaotic live shows, experimental sound, and psychedelic noise rock, they became one of the most notorious underground bands of the 1980s and 90s, achieving mainstream success with their 1996 hit 'Pepper'.
